This morning I passed a homeless person with a sign reading, “I am thankful for any help”. I wanted to turn around, but I did not. The rest of my morning all I could think about was this whole idea of “thanksgiving”. In our home, as for many American families, Thanksgiving is this delicious feast. So as I drove around town pondering the idea of “thanksgiving”, I was wondering. What does thankfulness, or thanksgiving, really mean? Sure you can be thankful for feeling “blessed” knowing that someone else doesn’t have it as good as you, but is that why we are thankful? How many of us actually take this “thanksgiving” and make it an active part of our lives…not just around the table? Thanksgiving reminds me of the work Mother Teresa did, she considered herself thankful and blessed to have had the opportunity to minister to the poor. She thanked God for the ...
